چکیده

The midbrain of the armadillo has received little consideration from comparative neurologists, although the pretectal nucleus was described by Papez ('32) in his study of the diencephalon of this form. The general development of the nervous system in this mammal had been considered much earlier by Newman and Patterson ('10). Papez called attention to the fact that in many ways the brain of the armadillo (Tatusia novemcincta) resembles that of insectivores and this study, in general, confirms that conclusion, although the armadillo brain shows less evidence of compression than does that of the short-tailed shrew (Blarina brevicauda). The material on which this account is based consists of a complete series of sections transversely-cut and stained with toluidin blue. The illustrations are in the form of photomicrographs taken at a magnification of 10 for the cross sections and 11 and 3 for the orientation figures.

The Nuclear Pattern O F the Non-tectal Portions of the Midbrain and Isthmus

The admirable work by .Castaldi ('23, '24, '26) on the midbrain of the guinea pig has laid an excellent foundation for the study of this region in the various mammalian forms. Previous to his time the general pattern of the area had been presented in the atlases of the cat and rabbit brain by Winkler and Potter ( '11 and '14). Various regions of the mammalian midbrain have received special cons...

The Nuclear Pattern O F the Non-tectal Portions O F the Midbrain and Isthmus in the Mink

The material used in the preparation of this paper on the brain of the mink (Mustela vison) is a part of the Huber Neurological Collection and consists of the brain of the mink cut serially in transverse sections and stained by the Huber modification of the toluidin blue method. The descriptions of each nuclear group are supplemented by reference to the pertinent literature. Photomicrographs ha...

The Nuclear Pattern of the Non-tectal Portions O F the Midbrain and Isthmus in Rodents

The primary object of this investigation on the rodent brain up to the present time has been the determination of the location, the configuration, and the cell types of the various nuclear groups. The normal fiber pattern of the midbrain is being worked out and will be reported subsequently. A full discussion of the functions of the region and of the variety of conflicting experimental data can...

The Nuclear Pattern O F the Non-tectal Portions of the Midbrain and Isthmus in Primates

The various nuclear groups in the midbrain of primates show marked resemblances to their homologues in subprimate forms, although certain regions are characterized by a marked increase and others by a definite decrease in development. The literature dealing with special regions is considerable in amount and some of it is of relatively early date. That pertinent to the present consideration of t...

Factors influencing the pattern and intensity of myocardial 18F-FDG uptake in oncologic PET-CT imaging

Introduction:Myocardial 18F-FDG uptake is highly variable in oncologic whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT studies, ranging from quite intense to minimal distribution. Intense or heterogeneous myocardial 18F-FDG uptake is undesirable as it may interfere with the visual or quantitative evaluation of tumoral invasion and metastases in pericardium, myocardiu...
